Weddings can be a stressful business, but one thing we all want when getting married is to make our wedding an event that says something special about us as a couple. A really lovely unique day needn’t cost lots of money, but it may take a little thought and time. Time that will be well repaid by having a truly original wedding that stands out in your guests’ memories. Jeni, wedding planner from Vanilla Rose Weddings, has kindly drawn up her top tips for creating a unique wedding – read on to find a bit of inspiration.
1 – Consider your theme.
Think about what you both enjoy, and use these ideas for table names/entertainment/games/quizzes/drinks and food menu and of course the décor. You can have lots of fun with travel or sports themes!
Ask your closest friends or family to perform a special reading during your ceremony, put together a Mr & Mrs quiz for the evening, or even put on a performance if you have any musically talented friends!
3 – Consider having a Humanist ceremony.
Although not yet a legally binding marriage, a Humanist ceremony is created individually for each couple, and is hugely personal. There won’t be a dry eye in the house, and memories of the couples relationship together so far will make for a great talking point for guests throughout the day.
4 – Learn a dance routine.
If you feel confident enough, have some dance lessons and learn a routine for your first dance!
5 – Create a video for the Groom’s speech.
Putting together a video with clips of you both from childhood, and throughout your relationship together will bring back lots of memories for you, and show your wedding guests what you enjoy doing in your spare time. Some friends and family may have travelled from afar, and may not have seen you both for a while – so it’ll be a great chance for them to see what you’ve been up to!
